Shea butter creates an excellent barrier on the surface of the skin, so it can be used to prevent nappy rash and abrasions. Apply a thin layer of shea butter on dry skin of baby’s bottom to protect it from irritation caused by moisture and heat in diapers. If the skin of a bum has a rash, redness and is irritated, first rinse the bum well with water, spray generously with lavender floral water and then apply a layer of shea butter. It will help to reduce redness, inflammation and itching.
When removing the baby’s cradle cap, apply a thick layer if shea butter oil on the skin, leave it for 20to30 minutes. If you feel the need, you can put on a thin cotton hat. Then gently comb the hair and scalp with a soft baby-friendly fibre brush or comb until the peel gradually peels off the scalp. Wash the scalp with a mild shampoo, if the skin is red–soothe it with lavender flower water.
